Event Name: Twelfth Night
"excellent"

Being a new Shakes fan after seeing Macbeth in NY recently, I really enjoyed this performance of 12 Night. My fave was Malvolio, the clown, Toby, and Anthony.

"Greatness in the thrust"

Although the night I saw this the theatre was very warm and the pacing was slow in places as a result, the concept was good and there were a number of good performances.

Arclight is to be commended for a terrific performance of Twelfth Night. The actors are great, and they have transformed a difficult space into a breath taking delight. The performances are funny and touching. For those sitting on the aisle in the second act, be sure to keep your legs tucked in. (You'll see what I mean). This show represents the best of small theater in San Jose and needs to be supported by the community. Collapse

This show was a real treat. The cast was outstanding, particularly the clowns. Mark Drumm as Toby and Daniel Norberg as Andrew were a riot--they played off each other perfectly and really got the audience laughing. Melissa Navarro as Feste was also a hit with her great singing, fabulous facial expressions, and physical comedy. Set in India, the costumes were beautifully designed, and the rich colors and textures of the set complemented them perfectly. The production features live sitar, mandolin, and guitar music, as well as Indian incidental music--a very nice touch. From start to finish the pace was perfect and the story was clear; I'd definitely recommend this for Shakespeare novices and avid fans alike. It was truly one of the best productions of the Bard I've seen. Bravo, Arclight! Collapse

It's true, the Theatre on San Pedro Square is one of my favoret theatre venues, and it's true, Measure for Measure though rarely done is one of my favorite Shakespeare plays, and still, go into it with those high expectations you are bound to be disappointed. Well I wasn't. The acting was awesome, the story clear and well put together and there were no over the top effects to distract from what is such a wonderfully topical play on subjects you just want to talk about afterwards for hours. WELL DONE Arclight. I really enjoyed this!!! Collapse

I consider myself a Shakespeare buff, but this production expanded--or should I say exploded--my conceptual vision of where one can take the Bard. The simplicity of the setting makes more ornate productions seem cumbersome by comparison. The words are clear and the humor is bawdy and to the point. Fiona Lawson as Isabella makes us smile and cry at the same time. Martin A. David as Lucio paints the air blue with his audacious Commedia Dell'Arte style, and Charles Remington's Pompey is comically dangerous. In fact, they are all good. The whole show is good. Collapse
