Conductor and Music Director Thomas Shoebotham will lead the Palo Alto Philharmonic in an exciting new season. The first concert will feature cello soloist Larry Granger playing the Elgar Cello Concerto in E Minor, a work made famous by English cellist Jacqueline Du Pré. Mr. Granger, a member of the San Francisco Symphony, is well known to Bay Area audiences and appeared with the Palo Alto Philharmonic in 2005, performing the Dvorak Cello Concerto. Héctor Berlioz’ aptly named Symphonie Fantastique is also on this program. Audience members will immediately recognize the unforgettable Waltz and Dream of a Witch’s Sabbath movements of this symphony, one of the most influential of the 19th century.
