    This concert will begin with the Russian Easter Overture by Rimsky-Korsakov, followed by the ever-popular tone poem Pines of Rome by Ottorino Respighi. The program will also include Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet, characterized by the composer as an “overture-fantasy” inspired by his first seeing the Shakespeare play. This evening’s soloist, tenor Ben Bongers, will perform operatic arias and other songs to be announced. Philharmonic audiences will remember Bongers for his outstanding appearance as the tenor soloist in last season’s performance of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony.
