In this chilling adaptation of Henry James spellbinding Victorian ghost story, the horror comes both from things that go bump in the night to make their presence known and from things kept quiet so that secrets stay buried. A young governess journeys to a lonely English manor house to care for two recently orphaned children and uncovers some frightening truths about her predecessor in a gothic "tour de force" journey into the unknown.

Although I can't complain about this production, I didn't jump out of my seat either. If you've seen this show before (as I just did at Broadway West) the suspense is somewhat diluted and my expectations were higher I think from the technical end. As I said, fair production, no real complaints, it just didn't enchant me. Still I think if you've not seen it, it's solid, and though I wanted a bit more spook from the tech end, the performances were great and though 90 minutes with no intermission is philisophically a challenge, it didn't drag on. Loved it. Can't believe the male actor plays so many roles at once, and he does a fantastic job at all of them, while transitioning from one role to the next graciously. The actress does a fantastic job as well. The script is very intricate, rich, and unusual, and she kills it with her delivery. First time attending a "spooky" play, and now i am hooked. Collapse
