There's a new tenant at Armadillo Acres, and she wreaking havoc all over Florida's most exclusive trailer park. When Pippi, the stripper on the run, comes between the Dr. Phil-loving, agoraphobic Jeannie and her tollbooth collector husband, the storms begin to brew. The Village Voice calls it "a show that actually lives up to the hype of its title." and, according to Broadway.com, "a sparkling, sharp irreverence lights up this musical and makes it one of the most laugh-out-loud shows in town."

    As usual, SJ Stage has presented an intellectually and emotionally challenging performance. The material is quite dark. But, it has enough "light" and humanizing moments to keep one from sinking too... Expand

But, it has enough "light" and humanizing moments to keep one from sinking too far down while thinking about the show well afterwards. With this material and happenings in our society, it could hit maybe a bit too close to home for certain viewers. This play is not for the squeamish. The response of the audience was proof that a very good time was had by all. I have to say that every play that I have attended at San Jose Stage has been first rate. I have the highest praise for the actors and the choice of plays offered by San Jose Stage. Keep up the good work! Collapse

    My husband and I absolutely loved this musical. It was funny, non-stop fun and had great music. At intermission, all I saw were lingering smiles on everyone's faces. This little theater company provided a happy surprise for us. The three women narrating the story were funny and great singers. Everyone had a wonderful voice and sang so well. The lyrics were witty and made me want to get the soundtrack so I could listen to the songs over and over again. One of the ballads even brought a tear to my eye. Constructive criticism: On a few songs, the music drowned out the voices of the singers so you couldn't hear what they were singing. Also, while the stripper had a great body and voice, she didn't really get into the dance moves and she looked fairly uncomfortable. Otherwise, it was an excellent show and the troupe did a great job throughout. The chemistry was clear, the songs were fun and memorable. I'd like to see it again before the show ends! Collapse

    "Trailer Park" is fun, musically challenging, bawdy, and incredibly over-the-top, pushing the "trailer trash" stereotype to the max. The cast works perfectly together as an ensemble, and the actress who plays "Pickles" especially stands out. Her comedic timing is impeccable. The sets are really imaginative for such a small space, and change and function seamlessly throughout the performance. I noticed (and didn't notice) the band specifically - they're so good that you recognize how great they are, but they don't distract you from the actors at all. The show is PG-13, so I'd recommend it for mostly adult audiences. Collapse

    TGATPM was great fun! I've never seen a musical quite like it -- and I've seen a lot of musicals. Especially enjoyable were: Robert Brewer as a lovably deranged ex-boyfriend, Halsey Varady's impeccable comedic timing, and Diana Torres Koss's versatile storytelling. Inventive staging and choreography enhanced the unpredictable, laugh-out-loud script. The entire experience was low brow, but high quality! I definitely recommend catching it while you can. Collapse
