Add Review/CommentWCA Peninsula members present works infused with allusions, sometimes immediately accessible and at other times hidden and obscure. They explore the idea that allusions increase intrigue and, therefore, the staying power of art. Discussion about the allusions seen in the show include Jeanette Sacco-Belli stating that her The Wisest Pine refers indirectly to the wisdom of our human elders, Ruth Waters allowing that her abstractly sculpted entwined hearts suggest eternity, and Susan Varjavand explaining that her painting Sober Swan is an allusion to a poem by Emily Dickinson. Leigh Toldi notes that the abstract nature of her work allows viewers to find their own personal allusions, while Patricia Keefe wryly comments that describing visual allusions can sometimes destroy the visual intrigue:
Exhibiting WCA members are Beate Amler, Arabella Decker, Cosette Dudley, Claire Erlin, Wyn Heimstadt, Tanya Lin Jaffe, Patty Jones, Pat Keefe, Annamaria Kusber, Rebecca Lambing, Alysanne McGaffey, JoAnneh Nagler, Kim McCool Nelson, Jeanette Sacco-Belli, Marian Yap, Bonnie J. Smith, Leigh Toldi, Susan Varjavand and Ruth Waters.
