Add Review/CommentRarely has politics and art intertwined as it did in 20th Century Russia. Explore a century of Russian music from the nationalist Romantic music under the Tsar, through the Social Realist promotion of the Marxist ideal; from the treacherous battles of Shostakovich and the Soviet authorities, to the rebirth of the avant-garde in the post-Stalin years. The program will include: Sonata no. 1 for Cello & Piano by N. Miaskowsky, Piano Trio no. 2 by D. Shostakovich, Three Funny Pieces by R. Shchedrin, Quintet op. 39 by S. Prokofiev.
Featured artists for this performance include: Neil Tatman, Oboe; Bill Everett, Double Bass; Michael Graham, Cello; Aileen Chanco, Piano; Dawn Harms, Viola; and Karen Shinozaki, Violin.
