Modern dance ensemble portraying the search for self in a fast-pace, high-tech era. Performance presented by Ru-Ting Modern Dance Theater from Taiwan and Dancing Sun Foundation dancers. Nostalgia II - Skylight has two parts and lasts about 90 minutes. The first part includes various styles of dances from ballet, modern dance and a collective format of Chinese opera dance movement with modern dance techniques. For example, "Fire Ritual" presents the unique flair of Chinese culture by combining ballet and Chinese water sleeve to its perfection. The second half entitled "Skylight" is a dance theater that depicts the search for self from the confusion in the fast-paced high tech world to self enlightenment. Inspired by the rainbow colors of light, Ru Ting Modern Dance Company brings their interpretation of life and their observations of nature through physical, colorful lighting to express their innermost intricate experiences. This program is made possible in part by a grant from the City of San Jose and Art Council Silicon Valley and is co-sponsored by the San Jose State University Dance Program. Location: San Jose State University - Student Dance Theatre, Spartan Complex (Women's Physical Education Building - SPX 219) One Washington Square, San Jose, CA (near the intersection of Fourth and San San Carlos streets)
