Theatre
Romeo and Juliet
December 7, 2008
Presented by The San Francisco Shakespeare Festival's "Shakespeare on Tour," Romeo & Juliet provides an excellent introduction to Shakespeare and drama that can be appreciated on a variety of levels. The action of the story-line is easily understood and moves the plot forward quite readily. The motives of the characters are clear and many of the conflicts are as relevant today as they were in Shakespeare’s time.
The play can be viewed as a commentary on parent-child conflicts as well as an examination of prejudice. It can be used as a springboard for discussions about hostility, deception, and the consequences of faulty decision-making. It can be enjoyed for its swashbuckling action scenes or used as a review of classic dramatic elements such as fate, fortune, and the tragic hero.

"Bayz Finest"

I was very happy to see there was something focused on our young adults. Everyone is so worried about teens and there hyphy cultural. All were well behaved and the music was great.

I was shocked to learn that the Green Party Booth submitted an entry to the mural contest and was awarded 3rd place in that event, but the art was not displayed. I personally saw the mural. It was not offensive of profane. Frankly I am a conservative who disagrees with most of the Green Party's politics. The problem is that mural was not allowed to be displayed. There was nothing objectionable about the mural and was pretty clever and kept with the theme of the event. I really feel that the Fair Officials had no right to put the mural on the floor facing the wall. I am shocked at the casual way the fair officials gave an award to the Green Party for their efforts, yet refused to show the art. Collapse
