A ceremony and food drive on will commemorate the founding of San José on November 29th 1777. You are invited to attend San Jose’s birthday. Nearly 231 years ago, a gathering 15 men and 51 women and children started a settlement that they called El Pueblo San José de Guadalupe. The event on the 29th will include the telling of their story, a flag raising, music and the lighting of a perpetual candle. There will be guided tours of the Peralta Adobe and Fallon House. The afternoon is organized by the non-profit Los Californianos, a group of descendants of the founders, in conjunction with History San Jose. Please bring non-perishable food items to benefit the Holiday Food Drive of the Second Harvest Food Bank.
