I found “The Shape of Things” to be a well organized production; it was quite obvious to me that a lot of thought had been put into the execution of the script. I’d say talented actors and good directing are the main reason why I liked this performance. Even with a simple set, it was possible to become completely immersed in the world of the play. I feel the use of a simple set really allowed you to use your imagination in creating the scene, rather than be overly elaborate and force one to imagine a specific setting. The creation of the world of the play was also greatly aided by a well assembled soundtrack accompanying the performance. The script and story line was also quite entertaining, and ends with a nice twist. Without spoiling anything, this play is quite engaging and you may find yourself feeling as if you are a part of the performance! This really enhanced my experience, and I would recommend this production of “The Shape of Things.” Collapse

The play the "Shape of Things" portraying what a person is willing to do for a loved one. Adam and Evelyn are the main characters that protray this situation. Adam has no limits to when it comes to whatever "suggestions" evelyn will give him. Whether it be to change his hair or to get plastic surgery. Adam is willing to do it because he has never had the attention of any girl. He does all this for Evelyn. Philip is Adam's roomate who comes off as a jerk, but in the end we see him break of his shell and show his sensative side. The conclusion was definetly a big turning point in the play. Also my favorite part because it shows the actual changes a person is willing to make for another. I definetly loved the conlcusion to this play. It tied all my different points of view on what could happen into one schocking revelation. This play was great. Collapse

the shape of things, produced and directed by Kathleen was an excellent play that took real-life situations and twisted them into excitement, drama and an adventure. The actors overall, acted with excellence and there was no moment i was able to doze off. The use of the pictures brought me into the world and made me believe, that i too was part of the cast. Although Adam and Evelyn's relationship was great due to certain circumstances the characters began to change and adam found that he was his own antigonist. Without ruining the play i would say that each character experienced a life changing situation that almost everybody could relate too. In closing this play was great, although the pictures were confusing, the story- line, plot, lighting and use of blocking was on point. I learned so much about life and has inspired me to think of how i am going to face situations from now on. Congrats cast and crew. Collapse

The play, The Shape of Things, written by Neil Labute and directed by Kathleen Normington, was an attention-grabbing story that surprised the entire audience in the end. The actors of this play did a very good job in portraying their character. The story was very captive, especially toward the beginning and how the main characters met. The two main characters, Adam and Evelyn, had a happy relationship, Adam had never gotten so much attention from a girl, which is why he would change everything Evelyn suggested, whether it was physical or drastic. Many things surprised me toward the end. The character that played Adam’s roommate, Phillip was very interesting to me. He came off as a stubborn and insensitive male, but toward the end he ended up coming off as the good guy who got hurt toward the end. All in all, even if the end was harsh and drastic, it was my favorite part of the play because I learned a new meaning to art Collapse

The play “The Shape of Things” was a very well put together production. What stood out to me the most was the scene design because it was extremely creative and you did not know what to expect when you saw it. The scene design was black and white which made the actors on the stage stand out more. Before attending the production I had absolutely no idea what it would be about. The play was realistic. She created a new man and convinced him that she truly loved him. He gave up everything to be with her and all she did was use him. It was romantic comedy with a tragedy. The woman was wrong for the way she used the man and his friends. It makes you think has anyone ever done something cruel like that to me? If I could see this play again I would because it was interesting, although I would like to know what happen to the character Robert after the art exhibit. Collapse

RTE's production of "The Shape of Things" kept me entertained from beginning to end. Everything from the acting to the set design was done very well. The play itself left me feeling ambivalent towards the story and some of the actors because it was full of love and laughter and at the same time surprised people with cruelty and deceit. I have seen Robert Campbell perform before in "The Kentucky Cycle" and i felt his lead role in "The Shape of Things" really showed off his talent as an actor. He made you really feel for the character Adam as he began to change as a person throughout the play. The art in the set design really fit well with the theme of the play. The design was simple yet affective and under Kathleen Normington's direction all the elements of the play flowed together nicely. I would definitely recommend people to watch this play. Collapse

Before seeing The Shape of Things I did not know what to expect. The first scene opened and instantly I was hooked. This love story ended with a unexpected twist leaving the audience surprised and confused. The ending scenes left me hating a character I loved at the beginning. This shows the skills of the actors and the time put in by both them and the director. This play was filled with romance, humor, and drama. I enjoyed this play because it was original. The script was unique and kept me guessing. Overall, I would see it again and brings others to enjoy it with me. Collapse

Overall after seeing "The Shape of Things," I felt the production was very well put together. It had all the elements of an interesting story; comedy, tragedy, romance, and a twist ending. In my opinion the actors played their roles extremely well and got you to feel emotionally invested in the characters they were portraying. How the art of manipulation was interpreted was my favorite part. The relationship between Adam And Evelyn was something that really touched me because the aspect of changing yourself for someone you love is something that everyone goes through. The only qualm I experienced with this production was how the end, however, a twist did not surprise me. The manipulation was obvious and the foreshadowing through out the play was a little much for me. Yet,i guess that is the most meaningful part: Love is bind. You never know if someone is going to publicly humiliate you by making you their thesis projection or not. Collapse

The play “The Shape of Things” has been one of the best plays I have ever seen. I love the scene design, the large pieces of artwork onstage. Each piece had something from one of the actors could have been the eyes, chest hand etc. and when they kept changing the art work each time a new scene came up what they portray told its own story just by looking at the art work. The characters did a splendid job in particular Evelyn because she made everything so real I actually thought she really had true feelings for Adam, that I was shock at the end when we realize what this play was totally about. I was really interested in the ending and how everything would end up but I never expected that outcome, Evelyn had used Adam for her Master’s Program Thesis. Then Adam got depress because he had done everything for this girl even give up his friends. Everyone can make a connection with this play because we all at one point in our life have changed who we are for a person we love. Collapse
