    Guqin is the oldest string instruments of China with 3000 year history. Guqin music has attracted worldwide attention again and mesmerized its audience at the 2008 Summer Olympics opening ceremony. With all the new and unexpected challenges we have to face in the modern world, people need music more than ever to alleviate their stress and to provide a refuge of tranquility for their minds. NAGA and its sponsors are going to offer such an opportunity on to refresh our minds and appreciate guqin music at the Chinese Cultural Heritage Concert.

    The concert will present many facets of Chinese cultural heritage through guqin performance, Chinese poetry recitation and singing, dance, Chinese calligraphy and painting demonstration, and Chinese opera, etc. This concert featuring world class guqin player Wang Fei. Wang Fei is an internationally known guqin performer, educator, and scholar. She is considered one of the most experienced guqin artists of her generation. She is the founder and director of the North American Guqin Association and a council member of the China Guqin committee.

    She has experience internationally giving concert-level performances and presentations on the guqin and related arts to both Chinese and Western audiences. She has won several awards in the field of Chinese music and lectured at many universities such as Stanford, UC Berkeley, UCLA, UCSB, and UCSC. Her music has been included in an American K-12 textbook to represent Chinese music.
