This fresh and daring spin on Puccini’s La Bohème follows the triumphs and tragedies of eight young Greenwich Village bohemians. Mark, Roger, Mimi, and their urban tribe of friends and lovers search for inspiration, passion, and identity in a world rife with heartache and pain. As the spectre of the AIDS virus looms and threatens to cut their time together short, this small band of artists and thinkers find beauty in the grit and grime of Manhattan and come to truly realize that there is “no day but today.”

I am a season subscriber to City Lights because I have always found their productions to be first rate. This is certainly true for "The Last Days of Judas Iscariot". As you would expect, this is a courtroom drama with some excellent unexpected comedy scenes. This production has a large cast composed of very talented actors each creating believable complete characters. All of the major characters were extremely well portrayed including Judas, Jesus, St. Matthew, Mother Teresa, Sigmund Freud, the Judge and Baliff. Special recogntion should be given to John Romano (as a hilarious prosecuter), Alika Ululani Spencer (as a sexy and very competent defence attourney), Jake Vincent (as a mob-boss-like Pontius Pilate), and Jeff Clarke (as a delightfully wicked Satan). In short, plan to attend this play - you won't be disappointed. Collapse

I was stunned by the overall talent and endurance of this cast. The actor(Romano)and actress(Alika) playing the lawyers have created engaging and entertaining characters that are on stage most of the show! What focus and strength! Jeff Clark as Satan and Jake Vincent as Pontius Pilot absolutely knocked my socks off; spontaneous and honest they were definite stand outs--along with Vera Sloan that opens the show with a lovely, heart wrenching monologue. It's a treat to see her play such a role after seeing her in THE THREE MUSKATEERS; this actress can definitely do it all. Issac as Judas was a treat as well; his last scene with Jesus(the actor playing Jesus was spectacular) was riveting and moving. Be sure to look out for Jake Van Tuyl, Angel Ordaz, and Ken Boswell in smaller roles. They almost steal the show with their endearing characters. Ken Boswell in particular was simply amazing; his performance beautiful, straightforward, and real. Bravo Kit Wilder and CLTC! Collapse

The CLTC gang does it again by taking a great script and casting some amazing actors in this ensemble piece. Special kudos to Jeff Clarke as Satan and Alika Spencer as Fabiana. Truly great acting and spot on direction by Kit Wilder make this show a must see. Collapse

I caught "Judas Iscariot" last Friday, and despite the heat in that little theatre, it was an amazing production. Strong acting from the ensemble, with notable performances by Lonnique Genelle, Bill Davidovich, and Ken Boswell. Jeff Clarke's Satan was vilely superb, and Jake Vincent's Pontius Pilate was nasty, yet thoroughly entertaining. Technically the show is very sound, underscoring the play but not overshadowing it. With the exception of a pointless video footage segment, the tech was great. The show drags a little in the beginning, but soon picks up into a roller coaster of philosophy and ideas that will leave you thinking for days. That's the best kind of theatre. Kudos to City Lights and Kit Wilder on this deeply complex production. Collapse

I saw the show on Friday with two friends and loved it. Although it was long, there were moments to keep you interested. A few stand out performances we thought were Judas, El Fayoumy, Caiphas, and Pontius Pilate. The one thing we weren't crazy about was the location. The area is not that great. Great night and worth it though. Collapse
