So join us for this opportunity to dress to the 9’s, dance all night and enjoy one of the best music acts in the region!
Since forming in 1988, Big Sandy & His Fly-Rite Boys have emerged as one of the world's most respected practitioners of American roots music, western swing, rockabilly, and traditional country—playing it like they invented it. Whether they're playing the Grand Ole Opry, Late Night With Conan O'Brien, or simply climbing out of a bus after rolling into your town, these guys are bringing us some great old-time rock and roll. For many acts playing music of this era, there is a tendency to look no further than the novelty of the style. Big Sandy & His Fly-Rite Boys, however, have continued to transcend their genre the same way all iconic artists do—by creating music so good, songs that are so well-written, that the genre is simply a launching pad for the integrity of the art. This music is timeless.
The Cottonpickers use traditional country instrumentation - fiddle, pedal steel guitar, electric guitar, electric bass, acoustic guitar and drums to turn out some red hot honky tonk. The music is in line with the Buck Owens Bakersfield sound, with a touch of Bluegrass, Rock, Cajun, and Western Swing.
Lady A & the Heel Draggers are an up and coming, SF-based Western Swing band, formed by members of several prominent area roots Americana groups, including the Mad Cow String Band, Five Dollar Suit, and the Real Sippin' Whiskeys. The Heel Draggers focus on the sounds of the classic era of Western Swing and Honky Tonk, when country music still swung hard and had more than 3 chords. This high-energy music keeps fans dancing and drinking. The band features steel guitar, accordion, fiddle, upright bass, guitar, drums, and of course, powerful vocals from the lovely Lady A.
