There was a time when clean-cut young American singers toured the land, spreading their optimism and patriotism through the pop music of their generation.... This is not their story. Meet The Poptimists, a 1970's-era traveling pop group in this affectionate and clever musical, as they poke fun at the politics and perspectives that defined a decade – done with a satirical twist, shaken AND stirred.

    I laughed all the way through! It was a really fun musical evening, well paced and the cast was perfect. Well worth the admission.

    This is a delightfully funny satire of all those squeaky clean groups from the 60s/70s, like "Up With People". I went to high school in the 60's & could relate to everything up there on the stage! The songs have witty lyrics & music I found myself humming after the show. The cast was great! Each member had their own moment to shine - and they did! The band was fantastic! (LOVED the young long-haired pianist!) I would highly recommend this show to everyone! Mr. Kopulos has done it again! All the performers are so talented, and this venue is the perfect setting for this time-warp of a musical revue. Listen closely to the lyrics ... you may need to go twice, so you can laugh in between and still not miss anything! Collapse

    From the pre-show music thru the closing number, The Poptimists rocks! A very talented and energized cast brings Ted Kopulos' satirical poke at the 60's/70's groups (like Up With People - the group that I saw in high school)to life and keeps the audience laughing. Be sure to pay attention to the words as well as the choreography! It's a shame that the show runs only thru this coming Saturday. Collapse

    I really didn't have too much of an idea what to expect when I went to The Poptimists. I got a a great, fast-paced show with actors who have so much energy they could power Christmas in the Park. Good fun satire and great performances. The opening night audience ate it up! I missed a lot during all the laughs and want to go back again! Collapse

    This is a witty, funny and tuneful show, brought to life by a very talented and energetic cast and a strong orchestra. Writer Ted Kopulos artfully lampoons (and pays homage to) the hokey young musical groups of the 1970s, whose fresh-faced eagerness is a fertile ground for comedy. His clever songs cover a range or musical styles and are infused with humor that ranges from subtle to laugh-out-loud. The terrific young cast members each have their moments to shine as individual characters, and to blend into a harmonious ensemble. I had a smile on my face the whole evening watching this well-crafted and entertaining musical. It's fresh, lively and fun. Don't miss it! Collapse
