It's here, one Elle of a Show! The hilarious MGM film is now a smash hit musical, coming to town to perform live for you. Underestimated blonde UCLA sorority star Elle Woods doesn't take "no" for an answer. So, when her boyfriend dumps her for someone “serious,” Elle puts down the credit card, hits the books, and sets out to go where no Delta Nu has gone before: Harvard Law. Along the way, Elle proves that being true to yourself never goes out of style.

Wow-unique well done - Realist and raunchy. Not politically or ? too shocking. Major theme= various forms of discrimination minus women's issues. Same old whore-virgin split. Virgin getting a mouthful at one point. Portrayal of man-woman relationships - none were positive. Actually none of the relationships were perfect. There was even a Road Less Travelled song about how no-one is really ever is satisfied. One about how everyone has some racism, esp against monsters. One about not wasting your time in your prime on relationships that don't satisfy you ie leave asap -all Sesame Str style. 10% of audience gave a standing ovation with the actors working it - bows beyond what would get more on their feet. Vagina monologues more shocking & worth it. My husband's of same opinion on that too. Collapse

Saw this show on opening night - thank you Artsopolis for the discount tix. The show is well performed and well written. Unfortunately one of the monitors that flies in and out was on the fritz and it was really more distracting than it should have been. And, the mix was a little off - too much orchestra, not enough voices (especially under the balcony). If I had to rate the facility, I'd rate it a 0 - with all the other wasted money in San Jose, why don't they bull-doze this horrible facility and build something worthy of the birthplace of the high tech industry. Broadway San Jose should move to the California Theatre and go with slightly longer runs to make up for the smaller number of seats. Collapse

Thank you to Broadway San Jose for bringing Broadway talent and shows to the South Bay. This is a show I wouldn't have had the chance to see otherwise, and these furry monsters and puppets (Rod being my favorite) will absolutely make you laugh at the human condition we call life. Also, thank you to BSJ for selling 'sippy cups' so now you can BRING YOUR BEVERAGE INTO THE THEATRE! No more downing the chardonnay at intermission - hooray!!! Collapse

I always say I'm not a musical theatre person, but I of course appreciate the experienc of a large audience, and the production value of large budgets. I was nervous an intimate show with puppets would be lost in the crowd of a 2600+ theatre. I have to say I was entertained by the content, talent, production tech, and moved that this nearly sold out audience was SO enjoying themselves. What a great night! Plenty of laughs, a surprising bit of heart, and well I guess no matter how cynical or skeptical you might try to be, Tony Awards and Millions of people can't be wrong in this case. This was very enjoyable. My only notes would be that the sound wasn't QUITE all together there, but I think that will be fixed for the rest of the run. Certainly be aware that the content is rated R, and though I wasn't shocked by any of it, there was "shock" value as some of it does come out of nowhere. Collapse

I had no real expectations for this show but was impressed from the beginning. Such a unique show. GREAT music, AMAZING bad, the most nuanced and complex set I've seen in ages, and the talent was tremendous. My only wish is that the audience was younger and more physically into it. How can you not move to this music. I'd encourage EVERY parent to take their middle school and high school children to see this. Such an important, poetic, and inexplicably apt perspective. There is so much depth to this show. GO! Collapse

Fan of Monty Python or not this production is silly and professional. Opening night was virtually sold out and the entire audience was loving it. Though the show started probably 20 minutes late due to the huge numbers of people attending (what a great way to start off the Broadway San Jose season)it was certainly worth every minute. The cast was phenomenal, the ses and technical aspects really pleasing and for the first time in a VERY long time I saw that space used to perfection! Great orchestra, great laughs, I was surprised at how entertained I was. Collapse
