Rochelle Carr urges her viewers to Follow Your Heart with an exhibition of large, richly-hued abstract expressionist paintings in the Caldwell Gallery from July 1 through August 31. Carr paints with total focus and energy, producing images that range from impressionist landscapes to frenzied abstracts that include universal symbolism. She communicates verbally as well as visually, and has recently published a book of her poetry, also titled Follow Your Heart.

Perhaps the key to Carr’s artwork is in her statement, “Adventure lies not in the places we seek, but in the moments we create in the places we treasure.” The paintings in this exhibition include oils and acrylics, often embellished with 23-karat gold leaf. The images reflect scenes from her international travels in Europe, the Caribbean, and Central America, and residence in the Bahamas, Hawaii, and Eastern and Mid-Western states in the U.S.
