The City of Cupertino will be conducting an emergency drill on Oct 17/18.  The goal of the drill is for city's emergency volunteers to make contact with all the households in Cupertino to simulate a citywide earthquake damage assessment. The City of Cupertino has approximately 21,000 households, and it is a challenge to make contacts with the households within a two day - 16 hour - time period.  City's Emergency Service will activate city volunteers from the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), Cupertino Amateur Radio Emergency Service (CARES), Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) and Animal Care.  In addition, the city invites community organizations such as the Neighborhood Block Leaders, Boy and Girl Scout troops, Rotary club, Interact, and Octagon members to participate in this emergency drill in partnership with city's CERT / CARES / MRC volunteers to accomplish their goal.  During the drill, volunteers will hand out an information sheet explaining free emergency preparedness classes and an invitation to visit their closest Emergency Information and Resource ARK to become familiar with it’s function and location.
