Cheaper by the Dozen
October 23-November 7, 2009
Dramatized by Christopher Sergel from the book by Frank Gilbreth and Ernestine Gilbreth Carey, Cheaper by the Dozen is the story of growing up in a very large family in the 1920's. The Gilbreth children deal with a most unusual father and the most unusual scenarios. The show captures the imagination using both comedy and drama in a story based on true lives.

What an enjoyable and kind of creepy production! I am amazed at the talent displayed by many of these actors. This complex story is told very effectively with the combination of narration and characterization. The movement on stage is purposeful and very well-choreographed and enhances the telling. And, their accents made me feel like I was in England. I'm glad I saw it. Don't miss it! Collapse

i was very impressed with this show! it far exceded my expectations(no pun intended) it was very impressive for a youth theatre production and i was blown away with many of the spot on english accents. the shows simple set and stunning blocking made the show move so smoothly. the theatre was darling and intimate, you can tell the actors and director take pride in the theatre and the shows they produce. the only reason i did not give this 5 stars was because there was a bit of backstage noise but again in such a small space that was to be expected. none the less it did not ruin the show for me in any way and i would absolutely recommend this show to my friends and anyone reading this. i was more then pleasantly surprised with the show and thought it was done incredibly well. GO SEE THIS SHOW YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT. tix where cheap and worth it. Collapse

The cast did a spectacular job on what seems like an advanced show which required a lot of memorization and staging. Not knowing the show, I was impressed at the ability of the leads in understanding and expressing the uniqueness of their characters and use good accents. Nice period costumes. Creepy at times, but great. Collapse

We took aoour kids to the show and were surprised by how well done it was. while not scary, it was really well acted and very enjoyable. Highly recommended.

To Los Altos to see this show! Only 4 more performances! I saw it last weekend and laughed, groaned and overall enjoyed all the performers. It was engaging, edgy and cute at the same time. The characterizations and choreography were well done and well presented. The two areas that needed improvement were the volume of the combo and the vocal coaching. It is appropriate for all ages, young children will get the story but the 'adult' humor will whiz by them. If it doesn't and they ask questions, be a good parent and answer them and don't get uptight about it. This show deserves to be sold out for the remainder of their performances. You'll definitely get $15 or gulp $10 worth of entertainment. This reviewer gives it a 'run, don't walk'. Collapse

I went expecting to see a kids show. What I got was anything but! This show was great! From Wolf with his incredible timing, to the beautiful voice of the Serena, to the glorious arrogance of the prince, I was thoroughly entertained. I think the best part was the lack of drop off from the talent of the leads to that of the secondaries and ensamble. Armand Dillo and Goositella were enthralling! My favorite may even have been a set of small ensamble characters - Mrs. Baa and the asian waitress - played by the same girl (sorry I don't remember her name!). The direction was spot on for the stage space. There were a few great choices that I did not see coming - including the slow motion scene. Over all, this is a phenomenal value for $15, or even $10 if you're a student! Go see it! Collapse
