In this hilarious comedy the severed head of Juan Perez the Great (a low life magician of a small urban circus) lies on a straw basket detached from its body, while recalling what led to its own decapitation. After a dreadful economic crisis, the Aztlan Circus begins to lay off artists from its show. To keep his place in the company, Juan Perez promises a sensational beheading act never seen before that could bring back the circus’ lost glory. With the clock ticking and no money to build a device for his magic act, Juan Perez the Great is forced to break into a historical museum to steal an original XVI century guillotine, which carries a deadly curse.

With Mexican dark humor and extraordinary acting, this film won the Mayahuel at the XXIII Guadalajara Film Festival, Mexico. Director: Emilio Portes, 2008, Mexico, 85 minutes. Spanish with English subtitles.
