This US premiere is the story of an unusual relationship between an old sailor distanced from the sea and a troubled youth. For one of them the path will be to forge the transition from adolescence to maturity, for the other, to understand the transition from old age to death.

Domingo lives with his son and daughter-in-law who can no longer endure the old man’s eccentricities and pushes for the elderly man to be admitted to an old age home, a veritable cage for man of the sea. On the other hand, Pau is a troubled kid from a good family who, for different reasons, arrives at the old age home to comply with the community work ordered by a judge. In this context, both of them will become friends and Pau will turn Domingo’s dream into a reality: to return to his native land, to listen to the “habaneras” sung by his friends, and to sail on his ship.

A “road movie” moving and tender, in which the characters traveling in Catalonia will find themselves in unexpected situations that will change their lives. Director: Christian Molina, 2009, Spain, 90 minutes. In Catalan with English subtitles.
