An outstanding exhibit and series of programs on the life and influence of this Pulitzer Prize-winning author, teacher, environmentalist, and co-founder of Committee for Green Foothills. From his home in Los Altos Hills Stegner wrote his most critically acclaimed works — Angle of Repose, Crossing to Safety, All the Little Live Things, and Spectator Bird. The exhibit recreates Stegner's study complete with many personal photos, artifacts, prizes, and awards. Also displayed is a comprehensive pictorial biographical timeline with sections discussing his important environmental leadership and his influence as a professor at Stanford University where he founded the famous Creative Writing Program. Learn about the “real” Stegner and the tremendous scope of his work through several video interviews with him and friends who knew him well. Children's activities support the exhibit themes.
