Award winning piano soloist, Aileen Chanco in a one-night-only performance at Le Petit Trianon. This exciting performance will feature Beethoven’s sparkling Piano Concerto no. 1 with Aileen Chanco and the Mission Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Emily Ray. A pre-concert talk at 7:15pm by Professor Thomas Wendel, President of the American Beethoven Society, will give the audience insight into the works that will be performed. An award-winning performer, Ms. Chanco emigrated from the Philippines at the age of two, and first performed with the San Francisco Symphony at age 13. She has received critical acclaim from many regions. Of her recent performance of Beethoven’s Piano Concerto no. 4, William Glackin of The Sacramento Bee wrote: "a superbly eloquent performance all around, greeted by unusually long applause. The spelling out of the music's inner logic was beautifully executed by pianist, conductor and orchestra." Aileen Chanco has been the recipient of numerous awards and scholarships including the National Foundation for the Advancement in the Arts Award, the Presidential Scholar in the Arts Award, Seventeen Magazine/General Motors National Concerto Competition and the Pepsi-Cola Young Artist Award. Britten's Simple Symphony and Strauss' Suite, op. 4 will also be performed.
