The Djerassi Program’s highly popular sculpture tours are set to begin in April 2008! Located in the redwood-forested Santa Cruz Mountains, the Program will once again make the private 580-acre ranch where the Program facility is located available to the public on a very limited basis. Preserved in perpetuity through a conservation easement obtained through the Peninsula Open Space Trust, the pristine beauty of the natural landscape and the panoramic ocean views are truly spectacular. In addition, the tours will include a selection of the more than 40 site-specific sculptures created by visual artists over the 28 years that the Program has been in existence.

The Program is pleased to offer the public this access through two types of guided tours: 4 Director’s Tours ($40 per person), led by Dennis O’Leary, Executive Director of the Program, and 12 Two-Mile Tours (free), led by Program staff; advance reservations are required for both types of tour. All tours begin promptly at 10:00am; however, it is requested that participants arrive by 9:45am at the entrance gate to the Program's SMIP Ranch on Bear Gulch Road West. Tours are held rain or shine and once a tour begins attendees must stay with the group and remain for the duration of the tour.

For more information, including a list of tour dates, please visit the Djerassi Program's <a href="http://www.djerassi.org/sculpture/tourinfo.html"target="_blank">website.

Early in our 83 year history as a winemaking family some of our customers would drop by the winery with their empty jugs. Our Grandparents Emilio and Emilia Guglielmo would entertain them with stories, wine and often Italian songs played on an accordion while they would refill their jugs for the trip home. We invite you to relive this part of our past for this special bottle your own event circa 2008.

Nearly six thousand wine lovers have turned up at the cellar door on our Cork Equity Days looking for a great bottle of wine at a great price. Few have been disappointed! Don’t miss your chance to meet friends, have some fun, hear some great Italian music, enjoy complimentary bread & cheese —and get some very tasty wine in the bargain!

Today, many cities across the U.S. and the world celebrate Oktoberfest, but none like Campbell, California. As a matter of fact downtown Campbell might well be mistaken for a German village this coming Saturday and Sunday when it celebrates Oktoberfest. The festival aims to be among the most authentic around. Spaten Beer representatives will be pouring an official Oktoberfest beer dating back to 1810 and the days of King Ludwig. German foods, including many types of Bratwurst, plus German potato salad and sauerkraut and red cabbage will delight the taste buds. Enjoy the many exciting experiences of our Oktoberfest celebration, And if someone asks why you are here ... tell them Ludwig sent you.

The Hakone Foundation is proud to host the eighth Hakone Dai Cha Kai at Hakone Gardens in Saratoga, California. The Hakone Daichakai is one of the most important and enjoyable tea events in the greater bay area: important in that it brings together tea practitioners of different tea traditions and enjoyable in the beauty and suitability of its location and enthusiasm of its participants. The hope is that all who practice tea will desire to attend in order to share tea with their fellow practitioners at one of the few sites where this type of event is possible outside of Japan. This year those who practice Omotesenke, Urasenke, Mushanokoji, Yabunouchi and Matsuoryu will be hosting thin or thick tea at various garden sites. Pre-registration is desirable as seats are pre-assigned and seating is limited. All fees go to the foundation and help to maintain and improve this beautiful garden. This is an enjoyable event for the participants and it supports a good cause.

Sankara Eye Foundation presents "The Biggest and Best Dandia." Make this Navratri the most memorable season of 2008. SEF invites you to dance away the night at the largest Dandia fest in the Bay Area. Navratri is an Indian festival that is celebrated over nine consecutive days filled with color, rituals, dance, music, family and friends. The evenings are celebrated with dance rituals called garba and dandia raas. Navratri coincides with the end of the rainy season and the beginning of the harvest season and considered an auspicious and prosperous time when people consider taking on new ventures and undertakings. This nine day festival is dedicated to worshiping the three different forms of the Mother Goddess representing valor, wealth, learning and arts.

EF is packing more variety and music for fun filled evenings with artists like Preetisha &group, SoCal (Oct 4th &11th) and the Rhythm Master Dimple Patel & Troupe (Oct 18th ). Do not miss out on the energy packed experience delivered by the dedicated SEF volunteers. With 5 years of having a sold out event, you do not want to wait any longer to buy your tickets.

The Zoppé Family Circus welcomes guests into the intimate 500 seat tent for a one-ring circus that honors the best history of the Old-World Italian tradition. Starring Nino the clown, the circus is propelled by a central story (as opposed to individual acts) that feature acrobatic feats, equestrian showmanship, canine capers, clowning, and plenty of audience participation.

Mr. Alberto Zoppé, who is the patriarch of the Zoppé Family Circus, a traveling band of men, women, children, and animals that races between county fairs and suburbs, appeared in "The Greatest Show on Earth," Cecil DeMille's Oscar-winning film, and rose in circus lore with his signature act: the backwards, flat somersault. The Zoppé Circus evokes something from a picture book: the clown, the trapeze, the dancing dogs, the ring and the tent. The Zoppé Family Circus is reminiscent of the one-ring European family circuses of the last century and will thrill and amaze children and adults alike with its breathtaking stunts and astonishing acrobatics. This is a one-time event not to be missed!

The Circus Tent will be set up next to the Redwood City Public Library.

Campbell Highland Games Association is pleased to offer this opportunity to support the Campbell Highland Games. The 2008 Games were enjoyed by those who attended. However lower attendance, due in part to the unusually warm weather and increased costs resulted in a deficit and the 2009 Games are in danger of fading away much like Brigadoon. Please help keep this longtime Campbell mainstay around for another 30 years by attending their fantastic fundraiser, Whisky U, an evening featuring fine single malts with a Seminar on the History of Scotch and a tasting "How To". The evening includes cocktails, dinner, a silent auction and donation drawing as well as live entertainment & dancing.

Pumpkintime is Primetime in Pumpkintown. Autumn is a magical time of year on the fertile, picturesque coast around Half Moon Bay. Stunningly beautiful vistas of seaside farm country with rolling fields of orange, scarecrows, and pick-your-own pumpkin patches. It's the perfect time of year to celebrate the iconic symbol of autumn and Half Moon Bay does it in a singularly spectacular way. Every year, massive crowds make the annual trek to the “World Pumpkin Capital” for the epic Half Moon Bay Art & Pumpkin Festival.

Year after year, festivalgoers enjoy a memorable experience with the special display of massive weigh-off champion pumpkins, the remarkable “Picasso of pumpkin carvers” sculpting and shaping a monster 1,000+ pound pumpkin, three stages of blockbuster entertainment, everyone's favorite home-spun parade, harvest-inspired crafts, the tastiest pumpkin pie on the planet, enchanting events and contests for the whole family, and the never-ending search for the Great Pumpkin waiting to be picked from one of the rustic pumpkin patches dotting the coast.

Stanford United Nations Association Film Festival screens documentaries dealing with topics such as human rights, environment, women's issues, children, famine, racism, universal education, war and peace. UNAFF offers a unique opportunity for creative exchange and education among groups and individuals often separated by geography, ethnicity and economic constraints. 11th UNAFF program includes 41 documentaries from 41 countries which will be presented at Stanford University with additional screenings in Palo Alto and East Palo Alto. Celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the 11th annual United Nations Association Film Festival has chosen the theme Blue Planet, Green Planet to reflect the myriad of problems we encounter living on our Blue Planet and to seek awareness and solutions - through film - to better our lives and become a Green Planet.
