About ArtsopolisKids.com

ArtsopolisKids.com, sponsored by FIRST 5 Santa Clara County, serves to increase the visilibity of local arts programming appropriate for children under 12 years and their families, with a particular emphasis on children between 0 and 5 years of age. ArtsopolisKids.com is an extension of its parent website, Artsopolis.com, the leading online resource for Arts and Cultural information in Silicon Valley and beyond. Artsopolis.com offers the largest database of Silicon Valley Arts and Cultural events, as well as additional listings of classes and workshops, jobs, auditions, organizations, venues, individual artists, and discounted ticket offers. ArtsopolisKids.com leverages the success of Artsopolis.com by exposing local arts programming for young children to an audience of over 90,000 website visitors each month.

Both Artsopolis.com and ArtsopolisKids.com are a projects of Arts Council Silicon Valley, California’s largest nonprofit arts council, distributing nearly $7 million to the 130+ local Arts and Cultural organizations, individual artists, schools, and community groups between 1992 and 2004. Arts Council Silicon Valley developed Artsopolis.com in 2003 to inspire greater participation in the region’s thriving Arts and Culture scene.

Funding support for Artsopolis.com is provided by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, the David and Lucile Packard Foundation, the County of Santa Clara, the California Arts Council, and the National Endowment for the Arts. It's major partners include the San Jose Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Norman Y. Mineta San José International Airport (SJC).

About FIRST 5 Santa Clara County

Research shows that a child's brain develops most dramatically in the first five years of life and what parents and caregivers do during these years to support their child's growth will have a meaningful impact throughout the child’s life. Based on this research, California voters passed Proposition 10 in 1998, adding a 50 cent-per pack tax on cigarettes to support programs for expectant parents and children ages prenatal through age 5. FIRST 5 Santa Clara County has approved a $194 million 5-year community investment plan to meet local needs to support the healthy development of children prenatal through age 5 and enrich the lives of their families and community.
