Cultural
Initiatives Silicon Valley
Cultural Initiatives Silicon Valley is a nonprofit organization whose goal
is to advance the vitality of Silicon Valley through broad cultural participation,
quality arts education in our public schools and development of an informed
and committed leadership in the community. CISV's Creative Education Program
provides cash grants, technical assistance, and professional development to
public elementary schools in Santa Clara County. Their primary goal is that
all K-6 students participate in weekly, sequential, standards-based, in-school
arts instruction in one or more disciplines (dance, music, theatre, and visual
arts).
Las
Madres Neighborhood Playgroups
Las Madres was formed in 1953 by a group of women in a Palo Alto childbirth
preparation class and has grown to over 2000 members a year. They are now
organized by the birth year of the child and by neighborhoods throughout the
South Bay; Santa Clara County. They are a completely volunteer-run organization
that has existed and serviced its members for over 50 years. Las Madres is
a 501 (c) 3 non-profit public benefit organization for the support and education
of young children and their caregivers. While most members are mothers, we
warmly welcome fathers, grandparents, aunts and nannies to participate.
