Nova Vista Symphony

The Nova Vista Symphony, led by music director Ann Krinitsky, is composed of more than sixty volunteer musicians of varied age ranges and ethnic backgrounds. The orchestra’s mission is to make live classical music attractive and accessible to individuals and families at a reasonable price, to expose youngsters to classical music and educate tomorrow’s audiences, to provide an opportunity for musicians – talented but choosing careers other than music – to perform with a top quality orchestra, and to provide a showcase for local soloists and composers.

Clarinetists Teddy Abrams is a featured performer.

Special guests include conductor Anthony Quartuccio and violinist Olena Komirenko, Nova Vista Symphony Young Artist Competition Winner.

Works scheduled to be performed include Handel's Concerto Grosso, Tchaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet and Dvorak's Symphony No. 9 "From the New World."

Join Nova Vista for its opening concert honoring Russian composers Khachachurian, Kabalevsky and Shostakovich! Craig Reiss, recognized local violinst, will perform Kabalevsky's Violin Concerto. 09/27/08	Of Knights and Kings Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts Of Knights and Kings Presented by Nova Vista Symphony at Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts September 27, 2008 Nova Vista Symphony, the Bay Area's most likable community orchestra, opens its 43rd season with the charm of 19th Century Viennese life. Conductor Ann Krinitsky presents Johann Strauss' Tritsch-Tratsch Polka, Haydn's Symphony No. 98, and Richard Strauss' Der Rosenkavalier Suite. Featured soloist is Alicia Telford performing Strauss' Horn Concerto No. 1.

Pianist Chih-Long Hu will perform Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1.

Hear Kristen Strom (pictured), of the Nuclear Whales Saxophone Orchestra, play the alto saxophone with the orchestra in Escapades, from the movie Catch Me If You Can.

David Southorn, winner of the 2006-07 Nova Vista Young Artist Competition, joins us to play the third movement of the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto. Also included in the program will be Rimsky-Korsakov's Dance of the Buffoons, Piston's The Incredible Flutist, Sousa's Charlatan March, and Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite selections.
