Their performers are highly skilled technically and dramatically. This is Modern Dance at its best. Great variety. Something for everyone. In the great outdoors of downtown San Jose. Dances went from children's tap dancers to couples' ballet to flamenco-style couples' dance to cave dwellers symbolic group dances from college students. Different every time and usually every type of dance is different. Outdoors. An occasional jet may be loud, but does not stop the show. May be hot or cold. (Depending if you are in the sun or in the wind.) A few available chairs. Standing room is abundant. Musical variety as well. Collapse

sjDANCEco opened its 4th season of performances last night, and they were, in a word, spectacular. The choreography and dancing are among the finest I have seen in the Bay Area. Dance critic Rita Felciano attended and immediately told us that the Izzie's Dance Awards Committee needed to come and see this work. I could not be more proud of these performances. If you are a fan of dance, you won't want to miss them. On a more personal note, my husband Michael debuts with the company, and his performance with partner Heather Cooper is simply magnificent. We were at capacity last night, and expect Fri & Sat night's 7pm performances to sell out. Information on how to reserve tickets is below. Friday night's performance will be followed by a choreographers' Q&A, and Saturday night's performance will be followed by a small reception with the artists. If you only see one modern dance performance in San Jose this year, this should be it. Melanie Doerner, Board Chair Collapse
