    Aztlán Academy

    The Aztlán Academy-San José, Inc. is a non-profit cultural entity dedicated to the advancement of Mexican and Chicano Folk Arts including art, music, dance, literature and drama. Since its origins in California-Tulare County's agricultural fields Grape Strike it has regionally served as a catalyst for their vitality and unique artistic excellence.

    Aztlán Academy is a professional, vocational, educational and cultural corporation dedicated and committed to providing opportunities to experience Mexican and Chicano culture and to preserve its folklore. The primary purposes of this corporation are:

    1.To utilize community parental resources to hand on aspects of the Mestizo and Indigenous cultures, giving prominence to the multi-cultural upbringing of its students.

    2. To engage in research of cultural ethnography, high technology and public service career advocacy, philosophical examination of matters of public concern, and the commitment to free inquiry.

    Aztlán Academy's artistic vision is to nurture traditional Mexican and Chicano Folk Arts, provide opportunities and the environment where they can be learned, performed and appreciated by people of all ages, demonstrate and perform them in communities and schools, develop a repository for curriculum materials, train and develop individuals as instructors and organize educational CALPULLI.
