Caught Hillbarn's opener OKLAHOMA on Saturday 9/5, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. For such a small space, they were able to mount a fairly large production (35 people in the cast) without "cramming them in." The show is a little uneven; the leads range from great to okay, but the overall feel of is very upbeat and pleasant. Michael D. Reed is a standout as Jud Fry. It's a long show -- even with songs I've never seen before -- so be prepared. But that's Rodgers & Hammerstein. Go see it! Collapse

I am just getting around to writing a critique of this past Sunday matinee performance. It was really very good. I'm not shocked, but a bit surprised that Community theater could be this good. Kudos to the entire cast. A bunch of talented actors, led by a professional in the lead role of Ponty (Joe Duffy). Nice job, kids. Collapse

I attended the production on May 24th at Hillbarn. I was instantly drawn to the effortless acting of Alicia Teeter. She understands the romance of Rosemary but also gives her a bit of sarcasm when needed. I was not, however, impressed with the ensemble as a whole. Was there a lack of energy because it was a Sunday matinee? Even the curtain call had very few smiles from the stage. Collapse

I saw this show last night, and I am so impressed! "How to Succeed" is thoroughly entertaining, as it shows the humor of business life: coffee breaks, office romance, the corporate hierarchy--and conniving schemes to move up on it. This show is laugh-out-loud hysterical! Joe Duffy's acting is brilliant. He is an expressive dancer and actor, and puts so much heart and charisma into his role (Finch). The audience immediately cares about Finch, and feels the identical joy and disappointment that he feels. Do not miss this show, and go see many more shows at Hillbarn--It's a high caliber theatre company! Collapse

Wow. I saw the opening night of this show last night and had to write a comment. It was wonderful! The cast is really great and the show was one laugh after another. The role of Finch is played by Joe Duffy. He is amazing in this part. He sings, dances and acts the role in a very quirky and energetic way and has great scenes and songs with the rest of the cast. The show is a little long, but the laughs make up for that. Collapse
