For me the techincal elements in the small space were the most magical part of this experience. Costuming, lights, set and props were clever. Solid performances, a decent (though not as funny or kid friendly as I would have thought) script and good crowd puts this on the see if you have time list. The accents were at times hard to understand, the fight choreography seemed choppy and it was about 20 minutes too long, but the inventiveness of the tech was certainly well done. Collapse

Christopher Tann as Ben Gun – Wow! On the character’s make-up and performance. Loved the sword fighting! Young or old Treasure Island is an adventure not to be missed. Collapse

Saw it last Sat. night. Great job. Ben Gunn crazier than the book - type casting? Script wanders away from Stevenson's original at times, but still was engaging. Set was well thought out- many locales conveyed without too many changes. Well done! Eight year-old granddaughter had a great time too (and got her picture taken with pirate and parrot). Collapse

This newer Ken Ludwig comedy follows well in the tradition of his hysterical "Crazy For You", "Moon Over Buffalo", and "Lend Me a Tenor", the latter of which "Ladies" definitely borrows from in some ways. While the script is a tad less laugh-a-second than Tenor, it's only a tad. The demanding "Some Like it Hot" requirements of the two leading men are quite well met in this production. Skilled performances abound throughout the cast, nobody is just coasting through. The only slight reasons to subtract from five stars are that the Shakespearean moments (don't be scared off, the Bard's shadow doesn't make it heavy-handed) while good could sometimes be more consistently standout. As well, the "curtain call" madcap reverse recap (a la "Tenor") somewhat lacked the physical energy to maintain the comic freneticism that each recapped moment captured. But these are relative trifles. If you don't go to too many shows and want one that is good at making you laugh for real, this is one to pick. Collapse

So I certainly wasn't expecting the story I saw. Far more humorous and personal than dramatic and technical. Although I do wish there had been a bit more about the actual WORK Turing did, and the second half felt long compared to the first, I liked the chemisty of Turing, Pat, dillwyn and Christopher/Nikos. Some very strong acting, a complex, well thoughtout staging, and some of the best sound design I have heard locally makes for a unique piece of intimate theatre. Collapse

We were not anticipating such a first class performance from a theater so small you can miss seeing it from the road. And yet about 100 attended a really fine performance on Valentine Day's (night), on a very well-done set. The casting was right on target and if you have a chance, you'll enjoy the small ticket price and very good performances. We're going to come back and see additional works based on well this was done. Collapse

Everyone in the small cast was excellent. Robyn Winslow was especially good and fun to watch. I really enjoyed not only the way she brought the character to life through her lines, but also how she conveyed her internal monologue through her facial expressions and movement. All the cast did a fantastic job staying in character when they were not the immediate focus. Dirk Leatherman moved smoothly into the creep factor as Dr. Lyman making it hard to stay in your seat and not protect the innocent school girl behind the counter. In this play it seems like everyone is dealing with loneliness in some way. It makes you think and laugh and was definitely worth an evening at the theatre. Collapse

A very looooooonnnggggggg play (90 minute first act, hour second act) with a number of laugh out loud moments, and some lovely comic performances, but not quite enough in my opinion. Most of them come in the second half, and yet it takes a strangly dark turn as well. Wonderful set, lights, sound, costumes, and the accents were more natural in most cases (though not all) than I expected. Certainly an alternative to the traditional holiday favorites that are around every years. Drunk people and crusty "old" men are indeed amusing to me in almost any situtaion and this play does have both. Collapse
