    Los Altos History Museum

The Los Altos Museum complex is made up of the History House, Museum, historic gardens, refurbished 1915 tank house and antique farm (home to one of the last active apricot orchards in Santa Clara Valley). The 1905 shingled farm house reminds us of a simpler time. Children will gain a new perspective and appreciation for present day conveniences. The Museum is a 8,200 sq ft, 3 level building which presents both changing and permanant interactive exhibits and hands-on learning exhibits. Visitors are welcome to enjoy the gardens even when the house and museum are closed. Picnic tables are available for lunch under the heritage oaks. The Museum supports current and ongoing programs including presentations associated with special exhibits, the “Margaret Thompson Historical Essay Contest,” third grade history tours, the traveling Ohlone kit for schools, and oral history collections. Docent/Guides and research archives are available. Closed New Year’s Day, Fourth of July, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas. Hours: Open Thursday - Sunday 12 noon - 4pm Admission Free
