South Bay Guitar Society
SOUTH BAY GUITAR SOCIETY is a Silicon Valley based volunteer driven 501(c)3 non-profit fine arts organization. SBGS presents a regular concert season featuring internationally renowned guitar artists, produces in-school educational presentations, annual benefit concert, facilitates workshops, masterclasses, monthly lecture/recitals and cafe style "open stage" events, publishes a periodic internet events calendar and communicates with peer socities for mutual benefit. In addition to member support, SBGS is partly assisted through private contributions and grants from government agencies, corporations and foundations. Beginning in 1986, SBGS now has produced well over 100 concerts.

These events typically attract 30 to 50 people with 5 to 10 sign-up musicians dividing stage time for the evening. With our roots in Western Literature (classical music), maybe 50 to 75% of music performed is in this tradition. We are open to related forms and do often hear flamenco, jazz, steelstring and world folklore. These gatherings are not only for musicians. Most attending just love music, discovering emerging talent and being the first to witness new creations for the art form. Munches (fruit, cakes or cookies) are welcome... bring enough to share.
