Northside Theatre Company
Northside Theatre Company (NTC) was founded in 1978 by current managing artistic director, Richard Orlando. A nonprofit organization, it receives national attention for new play development. It leads the way in redefining the integrity and importance of small theatre organizations and their critical importance in the development of industry standards and emerging artists.
Committed to theatre for all people without regard to age, race, creed, culture or physical abilities, NTC is devoted to the manifestation of the human spirit by creating dramatic art through heart, collaboration and exploration. For over thirty years, its hallmarks have been experimentation, education and performance. It is a place where imagination and inventiveness have a chance to blossom, a place where the human spirit is explored in bold and unpredictable ways.
Northside Theatre Company presents opportunities for emerging artists to work with and learn from seasoned professionals. It also offers a full range of theatre services including acting and dance classes, open auditions, outreach projects, an annual touring project (Theatre On Wheels), a five-play season and various staged readings.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this "play about a marriage and a dog"--an offstage doggie presence? a very well-trained canine? For some reason, I didn't expect a dog portrayed by an actress...but that's what I got, and it only added to the fun of this nineties comedy examining what's really important in life. Thus comedy is a great way to start Northside's new season! Collapse

This was my 2nd NTC show and I was once again impressed with the caliber of its performances. Great acting, good storyline and intimate venue made for a terrific Girls Night Out.

Besides being a funny but tender script, the ensemble work of the lead women, Ida, Lucille, and Doris, is warm and genuine and very moving. This is one more example of excellent theater in our area. Space has been used well to create a perfect set that is visually lovely and effective for the many moods the actors portray in this very human story. Collapse

Although preview night was a bit bumpy with some line issues and pacing, ultimately this is a great script and once is gels, you will likely see the potential that a great story, great emotion, solid casting, vulnerable acting, and creative staging can have. The laughter is as strong as the drama well balanced in the script and in the performance. This is likely going to appeal to a older crowd but I still found it charming in many ways, even if I couldn't identify with all of the characters all the time. Collapse

I found myself a bit distracted by some small details, but there is enough good stuff here, and talent on the stage (as well as a great set) to entertain. Pacing clipped along, and the story was compelling enough. Not a hit out of the park but good work all around and certainly commendable in many ways. Collapse

Great storyline and great acting by all! A combination of humor mixed in with a little family drama in a cozy theatre setting. I would highly recommend seeing this show.

I've seen many shows at Northside, and this was one of the best. Top-notch entertainment in a small, intimate setting. More than your money's worth!
