Beautiful voice...didn't expect such a voice to come out of that boy. He deserves to be in broadway. Collapse

Doug Baird did an outstanding job with direction, as even with the minimalist sets, I was brought back to turn of the 20th century England. While I expected to be jarred by the dreadful English accents, instead I found myself delighted at how I could really imagine all of these actors being from England. Jade Shoejaee was fantastic and believable as Eliza Doolittle, changing her accent from a thick Cockney to a very intelligible East End lilt. Linda McKee, as Mrs. Pearce, delighted us with her varied expressions, humorous dialog and constant costume changes. Chris Blake had me laughing, uncontrollably, as Professor Zoltan Karpathy (the only actual English bloke in the cast... playing the Hungarian). The Cockney quartet, (Chris Blake, Earl Masuda, Matt Tipton, and Peter Vigil) were lovely (or should I say, loverly?), and the ensemble was perfectly in tune for each scene, effortlessly taking the audience from the streets of London to the races at Ascot. Very enjoyable! Collapse

The leads in this show are perfect. Kevin Kirby brings the character of Henry Higgins back to life and is ever bit as good as the original, and Jade Shojaee as Eliza is absolutely delightful. The actor playing Mr. Doolittle was brilliant and performances by the Freddie character evoked thunderous applause from the sold out house. The other roles were well cast too. Finally, not to be overlooked, the chorus had two hit numbers of there own. Great music. Great show! Collapse

I saw the show at Sunday's matinee. Granted that the intermission was extra long for the restroom wait, but three hours and a half is a long afternoon. I have been a long time admirer of West Valley productions especially in the technical area, but I really felt that this set design was a wrong choice for this show. It distracted from the actors instead of reinforcing them. Maybe the director and set designer wanted to stress characterization rather than feature the sets. However, I don't feel that this was successful as I found myself watching the sets instead of the show. Some nice performances do not carry the show. Great hats in the Ascot scene, but that did not save the sets. This show only lived up to its name as being just "Fair." Collapse

I must admit I am not a CATS fan. A friend purchased the ticket. This production left me feeling very much entertained with a much needed enthused outlook to start my week. Cast was energic and kept in character and looked like they were having a good time! Excellent choreography and chorus vocals. The orchestra performed extremely professional and looked like they enjoyed playing. The total production was professionally presented. Reason I did not give a full 5 stars is because the magical Mistoffelees' scene was not that magical - slow. The costumes, wigs and makeup complemented the characters of each cat. I commend WVLO for not copying the Broadway costumes & makeup. The performance was under 2hrs with intermission(not sure what was cut). Take a day and see it before it's gone. Collapse

All around, an excellent show. The cast was on target with the choreography and the music, and everyone did very well. I was particularly touched by Sven Schutz' portrayal of Asparagus, however he was not alone in his excellence by a long shot. If you have a favorite cat character, you will like this show. It compared quite well with the Broadway cast visit at Flint. Collapse

For such a large cast (5 guy and 5 girl leads), WVLO has found a well rounded bunch of folks. I especially enjoyed the guys' performances. Their energy, while a little rough around the edges at times, was always up, and always entertaining. Stand out performances from Matt Tipton as Roger, with his energy and likable presence, he was very easy to watch, and Jillian Toby as Marty, who had a fantastic voice, and delivered a polished performance. Tracy Coad as Frenchy did a lot with a part that doesn't get to do much, and Leanne Bybee as Patty pumped energy into the show every time she appeared on stage. The real show stealer, though, was Ryan Blank as Eugene. He was completely and perfectly hilarious. Collapse
