Bay Area Showcase Chorus
Bay Area Showcase Chorus (BASC) has been entertaining the Bay Area with a cappella music, barbershop harmony style, since 1956 The chorus, which is a chapter of Sweet Adelines International , has a reputation for musical excellence.
In April 2004 BASC won its eighth first place medal in regional competition. These regional wins have earned the chorus the honor of representing Northern California in several Sweet Adelines international chorus competitions, most recently in September 2003, when BASC earned 6th place international medals. This places the chorus among the top Sweet Adelines choruses in the world. With more than 600 choruses world-wide, this is quite an achievement.
The 135 women who are members of the chorus commute from 17 counties and more than 50 communities - from San Francisco to Monterey and east to Sacramento - to sing with our high-caliber performing chorus. Members include business and professional women, homemakers, senior citizens, and students. Anyone who visits the chorus or attends one of our shows soon discovers that we provide an outlet for women who like to perform, especially sing and dance.
The quality of the musical product is very important to the chorus. Bay Area Showcase Chorus rehearses weekly to polish music, practice vocal production skills, refine choreography and have fun singing and performing with friends.
To improve music and performance skills BASC works with coaches who are experts in sound, music, showmanship, and expression. These coaching sessions help the chorus focus on the elements that are essential in an award-winning chorus.-

My sweetheart sings with the Bay Area Showcase Chorus, which is presenting Winterfeast of Music on Dec 2. I've watched this chorus for 15 years and it just keeps getting better and better! Barbershop-style a cappella music deserves a lot more attention from the music-loving public; this music sounds great and the performers always look like they are having a great time presenting the music to the audience.
