Stanford Theatre
The Stanford Theatre, a beautiful 1175-seat movie palace, first opened in 1925. It served for decades as Palo Alto's premiere movie house. In 1987, the David and Lucile Packard Foundation bought it and restored it to its original splendor. It is now owned and operated by the nonprofit Stanford Theatre Foundation, which promotes the preservation and public appreciation of classic films. The Stanford's programming consists of classic films, primarily from 1920-1965.
