    Peninsula Girls Chorus

Founded in January 1994, the Peninsula Girls Chorus (PGC) has evolved from an organization serving just eleven girls into a 200-member premier arts education and performance center that commissions world-class composers, participates in prestigious international music festivals, provides a valuable resource to the local community through assorted outreach performances, and makes a qualitative difference in the lives of young choristers.

The PGC provides Bay Area girls with an accelerated music education and performance program not found in the public or private school system. It meets each September through June, and the Chorus is open to girls ages 6½ to 18 who love to sing, including those without prior experience.

With its generous scholarship program, the PGC provides opportunities for underserved populations. Through the many performances, its singers learn important life lessons and build confidence while serving as cultural ambassadors for the community. The PGC offers opportunities for intellectual challenges, the development of leadership skills, and improvement of concentration and self-esteem. It is also where important mentoring lessons are learned, as younger girls learn from older girls values including responsibility. Choristers develop a heightened interest in the arts along with lifelong friendships.
