    Peninsula Girls Chorus

Founded in January 1994, the Peninsula Girls Chorus (PGC) has evolved from an organization serving just 11 girls into a 200-member premiere arts education and performance center that commissions world class composers, participates in prestigious international music festivals, provides a valuable resource to our community through assorted outreach performances, and makes a qualitative difference in the lives of our young choristers. The PGC provides Bay Area girls with an accelerated music education and performance program not found in the public or private school system. It is also where important mentoring lessons are learned. Younger girls learn from older girls (by example and directive) and see just what it takes to succeed. These lessons are learned, and in turn passed on to the next group opf incoming singers. We teach music, and in the process our girls learn something equally valuable — responsibility.

Through a generous scholarship program, we provide opportunities for underserved populations that don't typically have access to this level of education. Through the many performances, our singers learn important life lessons and build confidence while serving as cultural ambassadors for the community. In addition to musical benefits, the PGC offers opportunities for intellectual challenges, the development of leadership skills, and improvement of concentration and self-esteem. Choristers develop a heightened interest in the arts along with lifelong friendships.

The Peninsula Girls Chorus meets September through June, and is open to girls ages 6½ to 18 who love to sing. No previous experience is necessary for a chorister to have a wonderful musical experience with the Chorus.
