    Swing Central

    Swing Central has grown to be the Swing dance home for many Bay Area dancers. Started in 1998 by world-renowned Rob and Diane Van Haaren, Swing Central continues to spread the infectious love for Lindy Hop to an ever-growing swing community. Series classes with the US National Lindy Hop Champion Carla Heiney and other world-class instructors continue to draw inspired Lindy Hoppers from all over. Live band nights and fun dance competitions have been known to have more than 250 attendees.


    Swing Central welcomes beginners as well as more experienced dancers. It provides a very friendly atmosphere for learning and sharing.

        I haven't been there in a while because it's not near my house. However, it used to be a great place to dance for beginners and intermediate level dancers. The lessons were well done and the bands were great. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars from me is the lack of air conditioning. They may have added that in the last year. Collapse

        Swing Central is a great place to dance whether you are a beginner or an intermediate dancer. The dances taught mostly focuses on the "Lindy Hop" and covers other dances in the swing dance era like the "Charleston" and "Balboa". Once in a while, Swing Central hosts live music performances by dancer favorite bands like Lavay Smith and Her Red Hot Skillet Licker and Steve Lucky and the Rhumba Bums featuring Miss Carmen Getit. The atmosphere is great and the dancefloor is slick. Collapse
