Pacific Sticks
The Pacific Sticks Percussion Ensemble was originally founded in 1976 to present programs of music for percussion in schools. Since then, they have added workshops, residencies, recitals, concerts and recording as part of their regular schedule. Their members perform regularly with major Northern California orchestras.
This group performs 20th and 21st century music written specifically for percussion ensemble, plus other classical and contemporary works adapted for this instrumentation. They most often work as a quartet, but also perform in other combinations for special events.
Ken Crawford, director of Pacific Sticks, teaches percussion and timpani at Dominican University of California in San Rafael. He also teaches at his private studio in Redwood City. From 1998-2001, he served as President of the California Chapter of the Percussive Arts Society.
