    The Choral Project

The Choral Project, founded by Artistic Director Daniel Hughes in 1996, has been hailed by the San Jose Mercury News as "a Bay Area jewel," and extolled by the Bay Area Reporter as "pure balm for the ears." This 45-voice ensemble has developed an outstanding reputation for performing high-level choral literature and bridging the gap between text and music, singer and spectator. The Choral Project's musical programming is broad and diverse, ranging from early renaissance to contemporary, including world music, gospel, spirituals and jazz.

They have performed throughout California in concert performances, interfaith services, as well as choral festivals and invitationals, including performances for conventions of the American Choral Directors Association and the California Music Educators Association, showcase concerts for the National Association of Composers of the USA and a performance by invitation to represent the State of California at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C., as part of the California State Day Celebration Service. Most recently, this group of multi-talented singers won first place in the Choir's Choice category at the California International Choral Festival & Competition in San Luis Obispo.

The Choral Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization involved in community and student outreach, including a choral mentorship program for local high school students, joint performances with visiting choirs and annual participation in the Volunteer Center of Silicon Valley's Human Race.

The Choral Project is possibly the best and most innovative choral group on the west coast, if not the United States. "One is the All" brings together some of the best pieces the Choral Project has performed over the past 10 years, as well as introduces new pieces, such as the beautiful "Keramos" written in collaboration with Stephen Schwartz (composer of the hit musicals "Wicked", "Children of Eden", "Pippin", etc.). While the show is still a little rough around the edges, the choral music is stunning and the choreography of the choral members themselves is compelling. This show does for choral music what BLAST did for college marching bands and Riverdance did for Irish dancing. Am I a fan of the Choral Project? Yes. Am I an EVEN BIGGER fan having seen this show... YES! Collapse

I attended last year's concert with The Choral Project and the San Jose Chamber Orchestra. It was sublime! Just the right mix of traditional carols, winter-themed music and holiday cheer. It really put me in the mood for Christmas. I'm looking forward to this concert and making it part of my holiday tradition. What a way to kick off the holiday season! Collapse
