The ensemble of ladies of a certain age are all very well cast and a delight to watch in this script which is silly and predictable but well executed. Although the sold out house of 72 was a bit warm, and the plot a bit long, this is one of the best productions I have seen at Santa Clara Players. With the exception of a somewhat out of place silent montage during a scene change and a make-shift gurney that broke the 4th wall a bit, a fun piece for all ages! Collapse

*All the actors did a great job. They all performed their roles very well as the delivery was loud and clear with lots of emotion. I laughed through most of it and I could really relate to the plot. I think this play was my favorite SC Players productions that I have gone to. (I have seen about 7 of their plays in the last 3 years). We always like going to a SC Players play because the theater is small and comfortable and the shows are family oriented. I am planning on buying season tickets next season. Collapse

A sweet little children's play that is short and silly. Knowing the music (3 songs) before would be great, as you are encouraged to sing along, but even if you are unfamiliar with the songs and story, you'll enjoy the silliness of the committed, dedicated adult actors as well as the message of the story. This is a simple, fun, fast paced comedy that has some very colorful characters holed up in a Texas Cabin. Even script, acting and production values make this a fun evening as long as you come to chuckle, and not analyze. Just enjoy the silliness, deep theatre this is not, and that's okay! Collapse

This is an interesting piece of theatre and this production was certainly showing off some great talent. The first half is dark, somber, intense and a bit slow moving but the second half is a roller coaster of drunkan hilarity and the best performance by a toaster/toast probably ever. It's a solid production but the material is certainly not everybody's bag. A gritty look at screenwriting, sibling rivalry, and...toasters it's worth a look for something different. Collapse

Brilliant casting and solid performances make this mystery story entertaining in many ways. If you don't know the story (as I did not), then it will keep you guessing until the end.

Although SCP has to deal with the challenges their venue poses they are able to pull off a worthy production of Proof. The actors have a clear understanding of their characters and bring the individual psychosis to life. There seemed to be some line issues with everyone but when there was an issue it was handled well. It will most certainly get better as the run continues. The program does not spell out the individual scenes so if one is not familiar with the show it may take a little time (not much) to realize that some scenes take place in a different time period. Why doesn't SCP perform at the black box at Willcox High? The quality of their productions would increase 10 fold and people may actually be able to find the theater. There isn't any signage at the Triton indicating where the show is actually taking place, I almost went to a wedding! Collapse
