I really wanted to like this show in spite of the dated book. But casting women in their 50's and 60's to play flappers was just wrong. The women were certainly attractive and talented, but playing roles that they were 30 and 40 years too old to play. The leads were for the most part up to their roles, but overall this is the most disappointing show I've seen from Tabard. Collapse

I saw this production last night and was not very entertained. 3 short plays were presented and the 2nd of them (Ways and Means) was by far the only one that felt like Noel Coward. I enjoyed it immensely. "We were dancing" had a complete lack of chemistry from all the actors. "The Astonished Heart" was far from astonishing and left me bored enough to turn my phone back on and check my e-mail. That particular play was written to be a comedy and performed as such. The director in charge dropped the ball badly with that one. Whoever was in Charge of the entire production (all three plays) needs to reexamine their methods. However,"Ways and Means" was most enjoyable. I applaud director Sarah Tuhtall. Outstanding Performers include Alex Barbieri, Fabienne Miskelly,Adam Magill,Will Marsden,Ernesto Garcia Palacios and Norman Luce. The costumes were also a mess. I would recommend "Ways and Means" but neither of the others. 2 Stars is for the entire production. 4 for "Ways and Means." Accents?! Collapse

Having seen the movie before and vaguely remembering the plot, I went to see this out of curiosity and with an expectation to simply be entertained by "light comedic faire." At the end, I was surprised to see how engaged I was in the performance by the cast and how much I really enjoyed it! They were very charming, amusing, hilarious, and highly entertaining! The songs were clever and catchy. There was a lot of heart not only in the characters' performance but also in the story. The sets and costumes were fabulous (be prepared for a lot of pink!). The music by the orchestra was superb. All in all, a wonderful and solid performance that will keep you laughing and smiling after you've left the show. Collapse

The performance was lively and well executed, bringing the 1920's & 30's to life, right in front of us. The size of the theater adds to the audiences' experience as one can almost be part of the scenery. The dancing was well done and the leading characters were outstanding in their delivery. Another great touch of the Tabard Theatre company is the actors being available after the program to talk to. Collapse

I highly recommend you see this show. Yes, the book is a piece of 'fluff' but the cast and band are excellent! Very talented! The leading lady is a real 'find'! Leslie Hardy is terrific. Greg Goebel continues to amaze with his warm voice and ease onstage. Never met anyone who didn't like him, on or off stage! The cast brings the Gershwin songs to life with their incredible singing and dancing. "Fascinatin' Rhythm" is a show-stopper. Gary Daum is PERFECT as the Butler - doesn't crack a smile and has just right amount of subtle disdain for the goings on around him. James Creer 'stole the show' with his songs, wonderful voice and beautiful smile! A natural onstage! The dancers were excellent, so talented! So much energy! Loved the choreography and costumes! Kudos to John Ribovich for having the gall to poke fun at the Bard with this irreverent, madcap comedy, based on Shakespeare's "The Life and Death of King John." A cast of five make up the myriad of characters in an impressive display of versatility. Noel Wood is a standout as the Bastard, and he delivers the only monologues in prose (the rest of the play is written entirely in verse) with panache. Eric Rhea is charming and hilarious as the child prince Arthur, among several other characters which Rhea slips in and out of with ease. Despite its irreverence, this production does make Shakespeare more accessible to the standard ear. According to the hearty laughter surrounding me in the audience, clearly this is a crowd pleaser. Spent an absolutely delightful evening at The Retro Dome. The Guggenheim crew definitely know how to define the concept of "Shout for Joy!" Their latest creation, "SHOUT," is lively, tuneful, well-choreographed, and boasts five amazingly talented women bringing popular music of the '60s to colorful and energetic life. But perhaps the best part of a Guggenheim production is the way in which their productions always keep the audience foremost in mind, and involve the folks in the dark with the bright antics on stage. We actually sang and clapped to a couple of songs and felt like we were part of the show! As a former critic for a cultural arts weekly ("Boston After Dark," from the 60's) as well, I can "professionally" state that this is a "must see" production. Support your local theatre! CMT's Mainstage Production of the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is one of the BEST productions since the original cast on Broadway. Kevin Hauge has once again brought his creative vision to life by taking originally a 12 person show into a SPECTACULAR WONDERFUL 35+ person show. I've had the fortune of seeing both casts, who are both extremely well acted but prefer the performance of the Oxford cast. Nick Perry as Leaf Coneybear brought the house down, as well as Chris Renalds as comfort counselor Mitch Mahoney and Ryan Vasquez as the dull but funny Vice Principal Doug Panche. One of the best parts of this production of the Spelling Bee is the addition of the dancers in three main numbers of the show. They were top notch dancers with one young lady who really stood out in each of the numbers, especially as the ballerina of one of the characters alter egos. She truly enjoyed her dancing role and was just as enjoyable to watch her. AMAZINGLY WONDERFUL CMT!!! Collapse

We were lucky enough to see the show twice on Saturday, March 6. I have seen literally hundreds of shows at CMT over the years, and this one exceeded my expectations. Not only is the show itself funny, engaging and entertaining, the characters portrayed by the young adults at CMT really came alive. The performers at CMT come from all kinds of backgrounds and levels of experience, but this was truly a team effort, with professionalism and care for the role each player had to execute. Comedy and character development is never easy, we were absolutely impressed and highly recommend everyone to see this show. If you need a pick-me-up from a tough week, SEE THIS SHOW. It will put a smile on your face, and you'll take pride in the fact that this company is still thriving and turning out great shows. Congratulations to CMT. Collapse

This script is predictablly cheesey but in a good way. Sweet and era appropriate, there's a solid band, supporting a beautifully constumed cast, who have some wonderful dance productions numbers and a smattering of standout songs. Greg Gobel elicits a sigh and a smile from his first note, the kind of voice that's so lovely, you wish he had more songs to sing. Timing was good for the most part with the comedy, but this is no deep theatre expereince. Go with an open mind, don't try to make sense of the keystone cop type plot, just enjoy the music and the sparkles and the slapstick and you'll leave happy. Collapse

This productions is packed with talent, from the actors, singers and dancers to the musicians, choreographer and designers. Tabard does an outstanding job bringing the show to life -- Unfortunately, the script should have been left peacefully in its grave. Still, despite the weak book scenes and the many ungainly songs that don't further the story, it's a musical worth seeing for the talent and energy of the performers, and the first-rate production values. Mary Kalita is a high-steppin' fireball as the ingenue lead, and every principal brings plenty to his or her role. Gary Stanford Jr. and Nes Fragoso are stand-outs in their comedic character parts, Keith Pennings is slick and convincing as a silver-tongued lawyer, and James Creer's warm baritone and winning smile make his solos a vocal highlight of the evening. Sets and costumes are sleek and elegant, evoking the excess of the Roaring 20s. Overall, worth seeing, but I wish this great team had picked a better show. Collapse

i was very impressed with this show! it far exceded my expectations(no pun intended) it was very impressive for a youth theatre production and i was blown away with many of the spot on english accents. the shows simple set and stunning blocking made the show move so smoothly. the theatre was darling and intimate, you can tell the actors and director take pride in the theatre and the shows they produce. the only reason i did not give this 5 stars was because there was a bit of backstage noise but again in such a small space that was to be expected. none the less it did not ruin the show for me in any way and i would absolutely recommend this show to my friends and anyone reading this. i was more then pleasantly surprised with the show and thought it was done incredibly well. I adored this production. It has been a long time since I have seen such an excellently acted, superbly directed piece of art. This piece was suspenseful, beautiful and masterfully acted. The effects (sound, lighting, and 'special') were wonderful and had our entire audience jumping and cringing. Ross Harkness and James Lucas were superbly paired and should work together much more often. Ambera DeLash as the woman in black was terrifying (though far too beautiful)! Angie Harkness did an amazing job with the staging and casting of this show. Any actor should consider it an honour to work with her. I highly suggest this show for anyone who enjoys a good scare and excellent theatre. If everyone invited me to make a show suggestion, this one would be it. Collapse

This show is a lot of fun. I went with a friend and was whispering stuff like "Oh, that's a reprise from HSM!" to her throughout. Haha, I'm almost too old for that, but seriously, this cast provides a good time and the music itself is full of energy. Now, all the cast is great but people I really noticed were: Troy, who has an impressive voice and knows how to use it, and also has the moves; Gabriella, who has a voice that rivals Troy's. Chad was a favorite early on, and Sharpay's acting is so perfect for that character. The little girl assistant is a bright spot as well. Each cast member's character (Ryan, Kelsi, etc) comes out so well, and there are too many examples of that to mention here. With the singing polish and stage presence, many of these kids must be CMTSJ alum, and if not, take that as a compliment. I should admit that I have some great friends on the staff and crew, but this is the essence of what I told them, and now you have it too. Go see it! Collapse

This is my 10th year on the committee and a wonderful way to celebrate survivors and to remember those we have lost. This is a moving 24 hour event. Come out and check us out!

I'm in the show and it is so much fun! It's a lot of difficult dancing but everyone is trying really hard. Come support LG Theatre as we do something like we've never done before! :-)

LOVED Foothill's addition of a chorus to the show - it really added a lot! Principals were all a blast to watch, great show, altogether.

Great shows are a trademark at Los Gatos High School. I applaud the talented cast there for taking on the challenge of performing this amazing piece of truly American musical theater. Bravo for taking on the themes in the various characters' stories and performing the very difficult choreography and music. I am ordering my tickets and can't wait to see another Los Gatos High School Spring Musical production onstage again. Collapse

This was an awesome show! Amazing vocals, and truly entertaining. The cast was great, and the jokes were hilarious. Loved every minute of it!
