Memorial Church - Stanford University
Stanford Memorial Church stands at the center of the campus, the University's architectural crown jewel. It was one of the earliest and is still among the most prominent interdenominational churches in the West. It was built by Jane Stanford as a memorial to her husband, Leland. Together, Senator and Mrs. Stanford had built the University as a memorial to their only son, Leland, Jr. The acoustics of the church make for a wonderful setting for performances of instrumental and vocal music.
The church is located directly at the end of Palm Drive on the Stanford University campus. Please see directions below as the map link only provides a general layout of Stanford campus.
Directions:
From the intersection of El Camino Real and University Avenue in Palo Alto, go southwest (toward the foothills) on Palm Drive, the main approach to the central quad of the Stanford University campus. (If you had been northbound on El Camino, take the right-lane exit at University and turn left at the signal; if you had been southbound on El Camino, that's a right-lane exit at University followed by a right turn onto Palm Drive; if you had been on University keep going straight as it changes to Palm Drive.)
Palm Drive makes a large oval loop at the front of the Quad; there is parking around the oval, which is free evenings and weekends. Walk through the center of the Quad to the Church, with its distinctive mosaic façade.
From 280 southbound: Take the Sand Hill Road exit, go past the Sand Hill West offramp and take Sand Hill East (cloverleaf loop). Follow Sand Hill to light at Santa Cruz Ave., turn right, then quickly get into left lane to turn left at the Alpine Rd. light (turning onto Junipero Serra). At next light, Campus Drive West, turn left, and follow Campus Drive loop halfway around the central campus to Palm Drive. Turn right on Palm, following it to the oval, and park as above.
From 280 northbound: Take the Page Mill Road exit, curving rightwards onto Page Mill to go east to Junipero Serra/Foothill. Turn left onto Junipero Serra, then follow it to second light at Campus Drive East. Turn right onto Campus Drive East and follow Campus Drive loop halfway around the central campus to Palm Drive. Turn left onto Palm, and follow it to the oval and park as above.
Wheelchair seating is available at Memorial Church. Please be sure to mention your needs when purchasing tickets so that the Stanford Ticket Office can reserve a location.
Patrons with limited mobility may be dropped off in front of Memorial Auditorium. Please make prior arrangements by calling the Stanford Lively Arts administrative offices at 650-723-2551.
Assisted-listening devices are available for amplified performances with 72 hours’ notice given to the Lively Arts administrative office.-

Parking Info
Parking for Memorial Church may be found along the Oval at the end of Palm Drive. Roth Way and Museum Way, off Palm Drive, also provide parking.
