    Museum of American Heritage

The Museum of American Heritage (MOAH) offers a unique milieu nestled in the heart of downtown Palo Alto on historic Homer Avenue. Since 1998, MOAH has resided within the historic English County Style home and former offices of Dr. Thomas Williams, a prominent Palo Alto physican. The house was designed by noted Bay Area architect Ernest Coxhead, and was completed in 1907. The surrounding grounds also include the Frank Livermore Learning Center, a large craftsman style garage housing exhibits, and a lovely gem of a garden tucked away among the shaded trees. The modern and well-lit educational center was formally dedicated in 2000 and functions as a multi-purpose room. It is ideal for classes, workshops, lectures, meetings, and off-site retreats. This snappy facility is complemented by an adjacent and thoroughly charming historical garden. A rare representation of a 1930's residential garden, it seamlessly combines ornamental plantings and fixtures with more utilitarian functions. It is thought to be the only historically preserved landscape in Palo Alto, and one of few in California. The Williams House Garden is currently undergoing the process of preservation. Docent-led group tours take you through exhibits and the historic house and gardens.
