Many of you have experienced a persistent problem of your end users not bothering to check if an organization or venue was registered on your site already. They would simply enter a new name into the Temp Org or Venue field. This created a mess of duplicated profiles with slightly varied names, as well as a headache for site administrators trying to untangle everything and connect the listings to the proper profile of an Organization or Venue.
The system now has new protections against this problem. On the Event Submission Form, the temporary org and venue fields now perform a search, as soon as the user begins typing in that space. It searches for keywords in other profile titles, and provides a dropdown menu of possible matches to the organization or venue they were planning on entering. If the user selects on of suggestions in the dropdown menu, it automatically populates the area with the existing profile information in the Registered Org or Venue Field. This new function does not prevent all duplicates from happening, but it should reduce them by a significant amount.
